  • Valentine’s Enterprise Project

    Published 24/02/23

As part of the Business and enterprise ethos at De Salis, students regularly take part in project-based learning. Valentine’s Day was no exception, when our students decided to create a production line and hand wrap their own roses, sweets, fudge, and chocolates to sell as gifts. They created handmade labels and cards, along with marketing materials, and later used the Pop-Up shop to sell these to their peers. Students even came up with the idea of ‘secret deliveries’ where they took orders which could later be delivered to the person of their choice, anonymously. The event gave the entire college a buzz of energy and excitement and we can’t wait to see what the students come up with next!

  • Enrichment Week

    Published 17/02/23

Whilst Enrichment week is used for catch up and booster sessions, it’s also a way to further students interests and personal development, that’s why we offer CPR courses and countryside trips, along with new ways of learning. Students taking the CPR course got the chance to see a real-life defibrillator, whilst Criminology students played a game of ‘water pong’ where they aimed to get the ping-pong ball into the other team’s cup - each time they missed, the other team would ask them an assessment question. This gave students the opportunity to build on their teamwork whilst learning valuable revision and study skills.

Next the copper ions from the electrolyte are deposited at the cathode. Experiments are a fun way to put learning into real life, and allow students to be hands on when testing their theories.
